Result: Blackheath lost by 8 wickets

Grayswood - I Hardcastle 53*, Andy Gloak 6-45

Billed as the top of the table clash this looked anything but with Grayswood showing discipline in both their bowling and batting whilst Blackheath's batting was anything but!

Blackheath skipper Paul Nash lost the toss and was asked to bat on a soft Grayswood wicket.

At 72 for 2 off 14 overs Blackheath started positively thanks to Ed Smith (34), Pete Melhuish (19) & Mike Chase (15). With bowling figures of 1 for 24 off 4 overs it looked like being a rare occasion when Andy Gloak would be hit out of the attack, however, he soon had other ideas. Instead of panicking he stuck to the task and bowled with great accuracy getting the important breakthrough of Ed Smith. He then tore through the ill disciplined Blackheath line up ending with 6 for 45 off 13 overs. 3 bowled and 3 LBW's showed just how straight he bowled. Albeit Jon "JJ" Jenkins (7) looked somewhat unlucky.

Grayswood knocked off the runs for the loss of just 2 wickets thanks to I Hardcastle (53no) and Alistair Gloak (26no) who both impressed with the bat. Matt "The Ripper" Hart was the pick of the Blackheath bowlers taking both Grayswood wickets.

After the match skipper Nash's alter ego, Alfred E. Newman, rightly tore a strip off the Blackheath team. Here's hoping to a much improved performance next week back at home to Wrecclesham 1.00pm start - see you there!
