Result: Blackheath won batting second by 3 wickets

Alfold - A McPherson 22, J Harding 3-22, R Powell 3-38
New boys Alfold won the toss and elected to bat on a magnificent Blackheath track. Good bowling by all of Blackheath's bowlers and some loose batting by Alfold saw them bowled out for just 92. Rob Weston spearheading the attack was in fine form taking 3 for 15 off 7 overs. Unfortunately Rob is still restricted to just 7 over spells. Dallas McDermott also took 3 wickets whilst Andy Stedman and Jamie Bloomfield took 2 a piece. Andy McPherson (22) and Ryan Powell (20) were the pick of the Alfold batsmen.
Tea had to wait and the teams went back out for 20 minutes. Josh Milton was out for a golden duck in the first over and Alfold had faint hope, however, at 25 for 1 off 6 overs at tea left Blackheath in a good position. After tea though there were 3 quick wickets and Blackheath were reduced to 35 for 4 off 10 overs. Any hope Alfold had was quickly extinguished though by Tom Smith (32). The powerful batsmen came out and quickly began dispatching balls to the boundary and put Blackheath back in control. He was well supported by Skipper Pete Melhuish (25). 76 for 4 became 86 for 7 with some late wickets, but Blackheath 14 and 15 year old colts Will Melhuish & Jamie Bloomfield saw The Heath home. Alfold's opening bowlers Ryan Powell and Jamie Harding bowled well and in those 2 they have a good opening bowling pair who should ensure a solid season for the Div 2 champions from last year.
