MATCH REPORT

Flora Doris on Tuesday 11th May 2004 at Blackheath

Blackheath v Guildford City

Blackheath won the toss and elected to bat on a wicket that was quite soft due to the heavy rain for the past 2 weeks.
We made 99 for 4 off 16 overs, which was a reasonable score and we felt quite confident going in at half time. The pick of the batsmen was the Aussie, Leigh "Alfie" Alford, dispatching Guildford City's attack all over the park with consummate ease. He made a superb 55no on his Blackheath debut.

Blackheath started well in the field and had City at 31 for 4 in reply after 6 overs, Alford and Clive Ennis taking 2 a piece. Paul Nash dropped a difficult swirling catch at square leg, which would have made the score 38 for 5, however City recovered and ended up winning the match with 4 wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare.
