(From our correspondent Ollie Craske)
I was away and unable to play this fixture, and am grateful for last yearıs captain Pete Horsting for taking over the reins once again. Once again we were on the wrong end of a century opening stand, but we held Seven Sports to a total of 200-6 at tea, despite dropping numerous catches. Ed Allen made a promising debut, taking 2-52, while Horsting, Tayar and Purt took one wicket each, and there was even a rare sighting of Rob Forshaw rolling his arm over, shedding his wicketkeeperıs pads to bowl a tidy six-over spell, before spoiling it by pulling an intercostal muscle. Our reply was disappointing; we were 39-4 before Horsting (31) and David Robson stabilised the innings, but ultimately we were bowled out well short. Nevertheless, by all accounts it was a very entertaining game, enlivened by some mighty hitting from Karim Tayar and Simon Jones in a 42 partnership towards the end.
