At 50 for 5 after having won the toss, and with all recognised batsmen back in the hutch on a slow wicket, things were looking dire for the Village Knockout campaign. However, we were reckoning without the antics of Messrs ED HENDERSON and DOM INGRAM, who both scored 50’s and put on over 100 for the 6^th wicket. We ended on 168 for 6 after our 40 overs, a total we thought we could defend.

 Ed opened the bowling from the top end and bowled well throughout, without much luck. However Clive from the bottom end cashed in with two early wickets, both caught (Matt Payne bobbling one at point and Mike Chase diving forward to snatch one at Gully, to the cries of “I don’t believe it!” from John Mac on the boundary). A change of bowling from the top end brought Dom into the attack. Clive and Dom both had the chance for a hatrick, taking 2 in 2 balls each. Neither concerted but Tilford were now reeling. Matt Payne came on from the bottom, and after a couple of looseners proved too much for the tail, and Rob Parrot cleaned up No 11 from the top end in only his 4^th delivery.

 Tilford finished on 78 all out, a great victory to start the campaign, with Valley End next week
