Blackheath Sunday 2nds 'H' Vs Park Hill June 23rd 2002
Contributed by Pedros (no email address supplied) on 08/07/02 18:27:39
PJH strides out to the middle, flips the coin, wins the toss, field 1st, bar to open early, job done, feet up, light cigar.
Having taken the new ball, definitely Australian in its origin, as it swung more than Jordan's spheres in a windtunnel, Blackheath quickly made inroads into the Park Hill order.
CR bowled with his customary gingerness after Sat night's entertainment, but managed to contain his flow ''of runs'' for the majority of his spell.
MR, having gone on an out of season easter egg hunt around the confines of Clapham Junction station, arrived an hour late in haute couture blue pastel short sleeved shirt and tight hipsters.
With various references to Mark's sexuality, TJ, PJH and CR managed to whip MR into an almost trance like state of furious if slightly effeminate fast bowler. Bit like Curtley Ambrose with long blond hair and lipstick.
With Roger hypnotising the batsmen into a mistake at the other end, aided and abetted by BB's well timed taunts, Park Hill struggled to 120 odd all out.
Keith and Oli put on a bright opening partnership, until Oli was taken with a juggling effort in the slips. Keith was eventually bowled by a straight one from the oppo's Yule Brinner look-a-like, and it was left to Roger and CR to bat Blackheath within sight of victory.
CRs dismissal near the end was merely a detail as BB swatted and swished the remaining runs required to record another comprehensive victory for the Boys of Blackheath.
Special mention to Roger's all round contribution, Rob deputizing behind the sticks, and the oppo for drinking so much beer after the match....
