| Blackheath Village Millenium Party A Great Success Contributed by Graham Webb ([email protected]) on 30/05/00 11:43:04 | |
| On Bank Holiday Monday (29th May) the village held a party on the cricket pitch to celebrate the Millenium. Highlights included a photograph, taken by Terry Fincher, of everybody who attended. This was subsequently published in the Surrey Advertiser. After various fun and games in the afternon (including hot air balloon rides) there was a barbeque and barn dance in the evening, in a marquee at the top end of the ground. The success of the day was due largely to the efforts of the organiser Patrick Venning. A great deal of thanks must also go to several cricket club members including Dave and James Robson, Geoff Ellis and Chris Plested, who manned two different bars throughout the evening. Their efforts yielded over 600 for club funds. | |
