| Blackheath Gents Charm Sulhampstead Contributed by Graham Webb ([email protected]) on 26/06/01 11:51:40 | |
| A visit from a team of REAL sportsmen from Sulhampstead on Sunday (24th June) enabled Blackheath to show their own true sporting nature, and win comfortably, too. In a match when not a cross word was spoken by either side, before, during or after the game, Blackheath batted first and equalled their own scoring record in the National Village competition with 291-3 from the 40 overs. The inevitable Nash helped himself to 100 with Mark Turrell and Ashley Grenslade making 50 each. The financially astute Seebold also contributed a jug-free 49. Sulhampstead made a strong reply and were up with the rate for almost 20 overs before Webb (4 for) and John Card (3 for?) dismissed the better batsmen and thus slowed the scoring rate. The visitors finished on 202 all out. | |
