Well, I have to say that every game we play, we get another aspect of the game right. Last week against Normandy I said we needed batting practice as we lost 44 runs worth of wickets. This week, against some very accurate Guildford bowling, we only lost 4, which is a fantastic improvement. Put in to bat, we faced up to their attack very sensibly, if a little cautiously, and the only remaining problem we have to solve now is run scoring! (If only it were that simple, I hear you say.....) Under grey skies and with the whole mood of the side a tad tired (jubilee and half term late nights possibly??), we battled hard for 40 odd runs, with no one (apart from trusty X. Tras) making double figures - the latter's contribution enabling us to post a total of 266 - but as I said, for the loss of only 4 wickets (and no silly run outs). Once again, we were strong in the field. Most of the bowling was pretty accurate, with special mention once again to Stefan Wichtowski, whose deceptive spin deserved a wicket. We took two excellent catches - Stefan again, off Tom Melhuish, whose shorter run up is most definitely paying dividends - and a Cox twin double act, with Charlie bowling and Lawrence catching (at least I think I've got that the right way round!). George Grigg and Chris Hodges both shone in the field, and had we managed to hold on to two very difficult chances, we may have given Guildford a shock. As it was, they ran out winners by 12 runs. Well done everyone - we may not have got the result we wanted, but the pieces are beginning to fall into place.
