AGM + Awards Dinner The club’s annual dinner was held in the Village Hall on Friday 30th November, being immediately preceded by the AGM. The dinner was followed by the awards hosted by the outgoing Chairman, Graham Webb, and presented by the President, Peter Herbert. Click here for details of the award winners. Old Pavilion Demolition On Monday, September 24th (the day after the last game of the season) the bull dozers moved in to flatten the old pavilion. Check out the construction photo gallery to see how project progressed. |

G-lowe-ing Performance sees 2nd XI Promoted At the start of the afternoon, Blackheath 2nd XI required a winning draw to secure back-to-back promotions against a Grayshott side well-placed to capitalise if the home side slipped up. | Pavilion Appeal The Blackheath Pavilion Project has now reached a crunch point and, if it is to happen, we need your help as a matter of urgency! As a result of a huge amount of work, we have all the necessary consents, the tenders are in and we know that the cost will not be far off budget. Subject only to funding, contracts can be placed to enable work to start on the construction of the new pavilion in just 3 months’ time. So can we do it? Thanks to some incredibly generous contributions and all our fundraising activities to date, we have now raised £200,000 in cash, pledges of donations and loans from club members. We are now also in final negotiations with the ECB for a substantial (six-figure) grant, though we do not yet know the exact amount. BUT there will still be a significant shortfall. |

We have to bridge the gap
over the next few weeks if the project is to go ahead.
The ECB grant is only available if we can proceed this
year, and if we do not raise what we need by the end of
this month all our efforts so far will be for nothing! The club is therefore asking everyone to put their hands in their pockets and contribute what they can so that the new pavilion can be built. We appreciate that, for many, times are hard, and that some will be able to afford far more than others. But it is important to show the ECB and other potential major donors that the whole club is behind the project, so please make any contribution you can, however small. Our target is to show the ECB that at least 50% of members and parents have contributed. We will be very grateful for whatever amount you choose to donate. However you will see we have a shopping list of items from hand basins and a glass washer to the kitchen and the bar, and we encourage you to choose a specific item (or items) that you are willing to sponsor. Please then complete the Gift Aid form, and return this to Richard Brocksom with your cheque at the address given on the form. Many thanks for your support! U7s Tournament On a bright and windy Saturday morning in June the Blackheath U7s squad hosted a mini cricket tournament against Bramley CC. All the boys got to play in two matches and performed exceptionally, representing Blackheath CC with immense pride and determination. The standard of cricket for this age group was very high and it was amazing to see some great batting (with many sixes scored) and some very accurate straight bowling. Also several good catches were taken. |

| At the end of the Tournament, honours were even after some very tight matches. Blackheath won 2 games and Bramley won 2 games. The boys were all presented with chocolate medals and thoroughly enjoyed their first experience of competitive club cricket. Many thanks to the coaches and helpers who made this possible, particularly Adam Hall, Alex Jones and Peter Rooken-Smith from Bramley CC. We hope to organise another tournament for the boys in August. More details to follow. | |

U13s Tour of Devon As with previous years, the Blackheath CC U13s 2012 tour was as keenly anticipated by the parents and helpers as the boys themselves. There is an extremely good “team” spirit that runs throughout the whole squad and this was again displayed admirably over the tour to Witheridge, Devon. Click here for a full report. |

Colt's awards As usual, the colts were awarded their medals and trophies on the penultimate Friday night. Nick Harrison opened to the proceedings and the awards we presented by the club president, Peter Herbert. The are a number of photos from the evening and if you want a copy, make a note of the PXK7 number email Simon Jones who will send you a higher resolution version. Once again, the weather just about held and their was ample to eat with the hog roast provided by Nick Whitehouse. Nick also took the opportunity to give everyone an update on the progress of the pavilion project and to remind us of the appeal - see below! |

Picnic & Pimms Many thanks to Graham Wrigley and his family for, once again, hosting the Picnic and Pimms evening in the wonderful setting of Chilworth Manor. Despite much concerns about the weather we had a fine evening and were thoroughly entertained by the two bands (The Roadhouse Five and Fröken Lundstedt). As well as having a great time, the event raised much needed funds for the pavilion appeal - thanks Graham!! |

Quiz night
| Please see attached
flyer for a Quiz night in the Village Hall on
Saturday 28th April, 7.30 for 8pm. This is in aid of the cricket club's fundraising appeal for the new pavilion, so it would be great to see plenty of villagers and club members there. As explained on the flyer, tickets are just £10, to include a hot meal, and there will also be a raffle and a bar (at cricket club prices). For tickets, please contact Alex Jones ([email protected] 892860). Please also let Alex know if you can donate a raffle prize. There will be a upper limit of 8 in each team - but if you can't put a team together please come anyway as, if necessary, we can put individuals or small groups together to make up extra teams on the evening. |
